Preparing Your Home for the Summer Season

No matter where you live, the summer sun is nearly impossible to escape. While we’ve had a much longer winter season than many would have preferred, the weather is finally starting to look like spring. As with every change of season, it is important to keep your greatest asset, your home, prepared to fight the weather elements. With temperatures on the rise, keeping your home at a comfortable, cool temperature is not only difficult, it is also costly. As such, savvy homeowners will take extra precautions to ensure that their home is as prepared as possible for the summer season ahead.

The long, cold winter has probably caused some wear and tear to your home. From snow buildup to dead grass, getting your home ready for the summer means embracing the changes in temperature and preparing yourself and your family for some time outdoors. Keep the following tips in mind while preparing your home for the summer season:

  • Cleanup the driveway by removing any debris and patching any cracks
  • Check the sprinkler system
  • Repair your walkway by fixing broken pavers
  • Kill your weeds and remove all leaves from the grass area
  • Remove all debris from your gutters
  • Check your fence posts to make sure none of them have loosened during the winter months
  • Get your roof inspected
  • Ensure that all of the windows are working properly and closing completely
  • Clean your backyard grill
  • Rinse your deck and patio furniture
  • Turn off your power for a quick air conditioning wash down
  • Dig up your sandals and shorts from the back of your closet

Nothing says summertime like enjoying the great outdoors. Be sure to make the most of your summer months by preparing in advance and keeping your home nice and clean!
